There is such a thing as free!

I listed a few new items in my etsy shop a couple days ago and they are already buried under the massive pile of jewelry creations out there in etsy land! I’ve quickly learned that in order to draw people into your etsy shop or any small business for that matter, you need to put in just as much time and work into marketing as you do creating the items for your shop. Sure I could relist my items every 2 seconds to make sure that they are at the top of the list but by the time I actually sell something I won’t even break even.

Advertising doesn’t need to break the bank. Here are just a few of the FREE things that I have done to help promote my shop…

  1. Blogger: I’m advertising right now! A blog is a great place for you to promote your shop. Just a tip, I get way more views when I blog about things that I like instead of just showing off my own work. Designs by Vanessa Blog
  1. Facebook: You can create a “page” for your etsy shop. You can network with other etsy shops and spread the word to your friends/family. Designs by Vanessa Facebook Page
  1. Myspace: Yet another networking tool to help spread the word about your fabulous shop. Add pictures, video and music to spice up your page. Designs by Vanessa Myspace Page
  1. OneTrueMedia: Create your own professional looking mini commercial using this website and upload to You Tube. Designs by Vanessa Mini Commercial

  1. Flickr: Add pictures of your items and yourself creating those items on Flickr. You can join etsy related groups and submit pictures to those groups to get even more exposure. Designs by Vanessa Flickr Pics
  1. Etsy Street Teams: Join up with others for the same cause…to help promote your shop! I’m a member of the Etsy Blogger Street Team.
