Fabulous Find: Neti Pot

I've been a coughing and sneezing mess for the past week. Don't get too close to your computer screen or you might catch this never ending cold. I had my first experience with a Neti Pot a couple days ago, which actually felt a little like drowning but allowed me to breath for 10 minutes (totally worth it). I did a search on Etsy for "neti pot" and I shouldn't have been surprised to find a bunch of fancy little pots. I'm now having neti pot envy, I might just have to glitterfy my boring plastic neti pot.

Neti pots are wonderful. I use one almost daily during allergy season. They also saved me when I had a horrible sinus infection during my pregnancy and couldn't take any of the 'good' meds to help with decongestion.

You can also purchase a squirt-bottle type sinus rinse, which is the same concept as the neti pot. Instead of pouring the saline solution into your nose with a neti pot, you lean forward over the sink and gently squirt the liquid up one nostril and watch your gunk come out the other (gross, but strangely satisfying). NeilMed makes one, you can buy it at most drug stores.

That one on Etsy is SUPER cute!

Erin, thanks so much for the tip!! I will try ANYTHING at this point and the squirt bottle thing sounds better than my pot experience :)

So much cuter than the neti pot sitting in my bathroom cupboard! My husband loves it, but it sort of freaks me out. Feel better soon!

What the what? I've never heard of a Neti Pot. I have a friend that could use one of these cute little contraptions.

Hi Vanessa. I saw your studio on CRAFT. Wondering where your desk is from? Something similar would look great in my newly finished basement. Any leads are appreciated!

The squirt bottle thing still feels really weird. Let's face it, anything being squirt/poured into our nose feels foreign and alarming at first ... but I swear by it now. As long as you're not COMPLETELY stopped up, the saline rinse is a great non-medicated way to clear out all that gross snot and bacteria that makes you feel just rotten.
